My Opinion :

Born Wicked is Jessica Spotswood's debut novel in books. I have to admit; it wasn't one of the releases that were under my radar; I wasn't planning on buying it, even though the cover is beautiful (not just beautiful, but GORGEOUS!), but, when I saw my library had it, of COURSE i jumped on the occasion. And now, I just want to slap my past-self for not reading this book before!

Born Wicked is about Cate (or Catherine, almost 17), and her two younger sisters, Maura (15 years old) and Teresa (12 years old). Their mother is dead, and she has left Cate with a big responsibility on her shoulders; to protect her sisters' powers from the evil Brothers, and association of men who kill witches. But, Cate still has to pretend like she and her sisters aren't witches, and she has to take a husband soon, or else the Brotherhood will choose one for her. She thinks she has found her match; Paul, her best friend since childhood... but what if she chose forbidden love? What if she chose Finn?

Born Wicked reminded me of a French book series I absoluetly LOVED! It'S about the same as Born Wicked, except Born Wicked is set is the 1900s, and that series is the 1600s. That series is about two witch sisters who find out they are witches by the help of a (evil) maid. It just reminded me a lot of that series. which I just absolutely loved! I think it's my favorite French series!

Anyways, enough about that! Ha!

Born Wicked as a great debut you don't want to miss. Seriously.

I really enjoyed Born Wicked. I just really liked how it was a historical YA fiction with romance. And, it'S kind-of-a-romance-triangle... but, one guy doesn't have a chance at all. And that is what's awesome :D

Cate... I thought she was just a little too bossy to her sisters, although Maura was just plain reckless and just thought about herself and was selfish. I just... I was really annoyed with Maura! I would have punched her right in the face if I could have!

And Finn *cue the giggles*. He'S a bookseller and a book-lover, and he's! WHAT MORE CAN YOU WANT?!?!?!

Anyways; a great debut! Loved :D

RATING

4 roses!

Author Bio :

Jessica SpotswoodI heart books, yoga, tea, cardamom cookies, the color pink, board games, theatre, twirly dresses, and bells chiming the hour. I’m frighteningly enthusiastic.

I use GoodReads to keep track of what I read and recommend books that I really love, but I respect and enjoy reading more critical reviews.
