CatheeBooks - Forever Lost in Books

Crave : Book Review

Series:Crave #1
Author: Laura J. Burns and Melinda Metz
Format: Hardcover
Page Count: 278
Source: Library

My (High) Opinion : I believe I only picked this book up from the library because of its radiating and awesome cover. I mean, aren't you 9yeah, you, staring at this from your computer screen!) don't you just wanna grab the book!

Crave was really awesome. It was action-packed, mysterious, and had everything I needed at the time, because I needed a good book!

Basically, the story is about Shay, and she's always been the 'sick girl' at her school; always going through blood transfusions to help her. Then, her step-father gets her some 'special' blood (vamp blood!) and she gets those rushes and feels waaaaay better. But, she gets those visions of Gabriel's life, and finds herself falling in love with him. I really loved the plot, it's quite original.

I found myself actually 'falling in love' with Gabrielle. I have a huge crush on him.

The writing was pretty great, and seemed to flow effortlessly.

Crave left be craving for more (pun intended)!

Crusade : Book Review!

              Series: Crusade #1
Author: Nancy Holder and Debbie ViguiĆ©
              Format: Hardcover
               Page Count: 470
               Source: Library

My (High!) Opinion: Let me say first that I found this book while searching to get the Wicked series for free. Unfortunately, I didn't find it, but found this other series, also written by the same authors, but set in a totally different world. I was quite happy, since the summary made the book look really great.

I got this book two days ago, and began reading it yesterday evening with high hopes. The first few pages got me hooked instantly, because of Jenn's bravery, and the whole hunter crew.

I also appreciated how the authors made the six young adult hunters in the book try to get together for a greater cause even if they were really different, religiously and otherwise.

I flipped through the pages quickly, loving every thing about the book... until about in the middle. That's when my joy went down. I felt it was really hard for me to finish the book. The last 250 pages could have been 100 pages if it were me.

The whole book was well written, but only the first half was fast-paced. The other half was just... repeated words.

However, I need to finish this series even though I didn't like the first book as much as I wanted.

3.5/5 stars; Okay read.

Bloodlines : Book Review!

Series: Bloodlines #1
Author: Richelle Mead
Format: Hardcover
Page Count: 421
Source: Library - Want to Buy!

My (High!) Opinion: My first reaction after hearing about this new book written by Richelle Mead was a happy dance! I mean, who wouldn't do a happy dance after hearing that one of their favorite authors is doing a spin-off from one of your favorite series (in this case Vampire Academy!). I directly put it in my to-reads and waited patiently (or maybe not) for my library to get it. And they got it, so I ordered it for free, and I read it....

I can't say if I like the Vampire Academy series more or this one, because they both have ups and downs, and I must love both of them. We'll just have to see with the upcoming books!

I really love Sydney, and, I think I like her better than Rose, because Sydney's a bit like me, except she'S even more cold to everyone, not that I'm always cold to everyone.... but sometimes I am to people I dislike.

I really loved how the story was set (it's baseline-plot). And it kept me wanting more of the Adrian-Sydney complicated relationship between them.

The writing was as fun- fast-paced, action-packed as the Vampire Academy series, and I'd say almost even more.

Lots of people went from Team Dimitri (from VA) to Team Adrian (from VA and Bloodlines) after reading this book. Actually, I didn't.... I still love Dimitri more than Adrian :D

The cover is just..... sensational! And, you need to see the cover of the next book in the series -> The Golden Lily

5/5 stars, and worth your time to read!

Vanish : Book Review

Series: Firelight #1

Author: Sophie Jordan

Format: Hardcover

 Page Count: 294

Source: Library

My (High!) Opinion : It's been about a month since I've read this book, and I actually thought I'd done a review on it, but when I looked around my blog, I saw I hadn't (stupid me!). I think I actually did a review in my mind, so I just have to put it on here.

I was preparing to buy this book, but when I check it at my library, and I was so happy, because any money I havem I buy books with it :D

I thought Vanish was better than Firelight, even though I was angry at Jacinda for sometimes kissing Cassian. i mean, um, hello?!?What about the charming, awesome, handsome Will! And poor Tamra, who didn't get Cassian :(

I was happy that they didn't cut her wings, but  at the same time I think it would have added some drama, don't you think???

I was so happy when Will 'came back' in the book. I love him so much!

The writing was really good. It was fast-paced and fun, also a little romantic.

And don't you just love the cover! It's soooooo beautiful!!!! I thoguht it was even mroe beautiful than the first one.

5/5 stars, and worth reading!

Silence : Book Review

                                           Silence (Hush, Hush, #3)
Series: Hush Hush #3
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Format: Hardcover
Page Count: 438
Source: Library
My (High!) Opinion : So this is the hugely awaited third novel in the Hush, Hush series. I was so happy when I saw this had arrived at my library. and that I could get it for free! I did a happy dance once I got it, actually :D

The story baseline was pretty good. It started with Nora, who had lost any memory form the last five months of her life. All because of the ?/$"%?%$"?/W!/!"&/??/("/) Hank Millar. He's EVIL! She was in a cemetery, and was completely lost. Poor her... anyway, she went home and was safe and sound. Then, she feels like she's missing something...

She then encounters Jev (Patch) and feels attracted to him. Of course, who wouldn't :D

I felt like the writing was better than the first two books in the series; Becca definitely has improved a lot, and the writing was sensational!  And awesome!

I was blown away by what happened near the end (don't worry, I won't spoil anything) and I can't wait to see what happens next. Let'S hope it gets even better!

Dragon's Oath : Book Review

Click for the Summary!

My (High!) Opinion : So, this is the first book in the House of Night Novellas series, which is a story set in the the Cast's House of Night world, which is awesome.

First, let me say I really like the HoN (House of Night) series by the Casts.  And i was really excited when my library contacted me to say this book had arrived in my account. I almost screamed. Okay, maybe not, but I was really happy. I had really high expectations and *drum rolls* I loved it!

I even thought the book was better than the HoN series. I thought Dragon/Bryan Lankford was sooooooo cute! All arrogant and funny *grin*. And Anastasia was all peaceful, and beautiful. So, I really liked the characters.

The writing was, from my opinion, better than the one in the HoN. It was soft, and also fast-paced, and I liked the way the author used Dragon's arrogance.

And don't you love the cover? I hope that'S Anastasia, because she is so beautiful. And I hope that's Dragon's sword. It'S awesome.

I thought Dragon's decision was heart-breaking. I almost cried. Poor him; he *SPOILY SPOLIER* lost Anastasia, and betrayed Nyx *Okay, you can continue*.¸

Anyway, I am hoping the next House of Night Novella will be as good as this one.

Show Gratitude To Books

So, this is a kind of contest. Well.... it is a contest. So, yeah, I need to talk about a book I am grateful of, but first.... here's the link to the contest : Beth Revis' Blog

This is really hard. There are so many books I've loved, or that I've appreciated, but I decided that I am going to talk about two books; Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and Fallen by Lauren Kate.

First up, Fallen by Lauren Kate. So, I hate this book. Now, you're probably thinking.... why did she put this book up if she hated it. Well, here's why; this book was the first one I hated in Young Adult Paranormal Romance. I'd grown a bit bored of YAPNR,  then I read this book... and I hated it so much (sorry to the author). That's why I decided to read more and more books, so I could see if I'd been to severe with Fallen, but no, I wasn't, in my opinion.

Now, there'S Twilight. I probably won't be the first to post Twilight as one of my books, but I probably don't have the same reason... My reason is, that's the book that got me into reading. Now... let's start at the beginning.  I am actually French, it'S my native language, but, in grade fourth, I entered a rather intensive English program, which included all afternoons in English. They encouraged us, in the first year, to watch TV in English and to red in English. I started watching TV in English, but I just couldn't get into books; I'd never been much of a reader, only if it was Geronimo Stilton's books. Then, came fifth grade, with the same intensive English program. The year started, and I began reading the Bones series, which was really easy to read. I didn't really get into it, and I stopped reading. Halfway through the year, my English teacher, Miss C., recommended to me Twilight. I was so stubborn at first! I was afraid of anything scary, and to me, vampires were scary. So, I didn't buy it. But my dad did. He didn't read it, though. After weeks of lying around, the book finally landed in my hands. I began to read it slowly, of course, my English wasn't really good. Then, as I got more into the book, that was all I could think of; Bella, Edward, Edward, vampires. This was really weird to me, since it was the first time I'd felt this way about book. Once I'd finished this book, I definitely had to get my hands on the next one. My parents were only to happy to buy the next, but while the book made its way to us, I read and read Twilight again, memorizing my favorite parts. Then I started New Moon, then Eclipse, then finally Breaking Dawn. It was like I couldn't get enough of this series! So, after finishing it, I began reading and reading it again and again. My parents were almost worried about how much I seemed to be into it.Then, the year ended, and I continued reading the series again and again. When sixth grade began, I started looking for more books. So that's my story; Twilight brought me to English books, which is why I'm now bilingual (or almost) after three years of English.

Perfect Chemistry : Book Review

Click For the Summary

My Opinion : I read this book about two moths ago, and I decided to read it again just because the first time I had read it, I'd found it entertaining as well as cute. I find myself loving this kind of books (complete opposites finding a way to get together or good girl + bad boy = love). But I don't know why. Maybe because it's always so fun to see how the characters go from hating each other to loving each other.

Alex is, if I may say, hot.  What? He is *giggles*. I find myself hating Colin, Brittany's previous boyfriend and his jealous fits, as well as his weird and and angry temperament when he doesn't get what he wants. She really is better off with Alex.

Anyone read this book? Well, anyone would find this book entertaining and fun.

*P.S.: Sorry for the short review*

Forbidden : Book Review!

*Warning, this review, if the author ever reads it, isn't all entirely true. (Um, yeah it is). I just want the author to know that I loved her work in this book, even thought I am a tiny bit angry towards her for.... something*

*Other Warning: To anyone who has a heart of his own, well, prepare your glue, because my heart broke after reading this book*

Click For The Summary

My Opinion : After seeing the title, the first jumbled thoughts that popped in my mind; What is it about? A Romeo and Juliet rip-offish kind of book? Of course, it must be about love! Look at the heart! And the red cover! It must be something like that! Or maybe it's dystopian? Or maybe they are gay people in the past? So, um yeah... possibilities! Then, I read the mysterious summary. I shuddered and closed the window. I mean... ew! I know, I know I am prejudiced, but who isn't? Raise your hand, anyone who read the summary without thinking: ew!, disgusting! ugh! um...!  (or for the religious freaks: Satan Followers! :D)  Fortunately, I read the reviews. Some were saying: Ew! Ew! Ew! with some stupid blah blah, and others were writing about the quality of the written work. Ever thought of that, people who wrote stupid reviews about this book?

So, now that I'm rereading my last chapter... I'd say I got my fury out. Almost. Now I have to get my fury towards the author out. Now! Wait! Nope, here it is! Mrs Tabitha Suzuma, with all the well-deserved  respect... why did you *spoiler alert everyone* kill Lochan! *okay, now you can continue reading weird people who didn't read the book yet*. I mean.... *sob sob* I loved him! And you just, just, well, you know! My heart broke to pieces when he.... you know... I mean, he had to love Maya for what he did, but surely, there was another way, Lochan. You could of had me *giggles*.

Alright, so,  I just got a tiny bit of anger to get out. Again, towards the author.  Now, now, Mrs Tabitha, why didn't you write a longer book! I mean... I WANT MORE OF THIS KIND OF BOOKS AND NOW! I'm probably going to read one of her other books (let'S hope they are as mind-blowing as Forbidden!)

So, I was wondering... why didn't the police characters in this books  see how Maya and Lochan loved each other, and that they broke my heart? Stupid, stupid police characters!

The writing was just... wow. It amazed me how this book made me fell. You know, the kind, that when you are reading it, you sweat as if you were going through what the characters were going through?

Rating : A well-deserved 5/5 stars!
